Morning!  The ASC team is huge into reading lately, and we thought it would be fun to share some of the books on our lists this season.  Note that we have not read all of these--some of them are books we are reading now!  Therefore we invite you to join us... after all, there is nothing like curling up with a book, a warm drink, and a sweater (see below!)

1. The Power of Habit -- Charles Duhigg.  Trying to change a bad habit, or create a new positive one?  Duhigg talks about the science behind our repeated behaviors, calls on real-world examples that show the power of habit, and suggests how we can all change our behavior to live healthier, happier, and more productive lives.

2. Thinking, Fast and Slow -- Daniel Kahneman.  (Just started this yesterday!)  It is long... but apparently amazing.  Kahneman discusses different types of thinking, employing economic theory and psychology to shed light on what it is that happens inside our heads.

3. Alexander McQueen: The Life and Legacy -- Judith Watt.  Beautiful visual piece about the late McQueen.  One of ASC's all-time favorite icons, McQueen inspires Ann, as an artist and designer.  This book covers his life in several phases, presenting his evolution as a designer and person.

4. Cutting for Stone -- Abraham Verghese.  This one has been on the bookshelf for a few years.  We have all been intending to read it since early summer, but it keeps getting tabled.  What we do know--takes place in Adis Ababa in the 1950s, and follows twin boys (orphaned at birth) as they grow up in Ethiopia while the nation is at the brink of a revolution.  Should be a glimpse into a world we know little about.

5. Behind the Beautiful Forevers: Life, Death, and Hope in a Mumbai Undercity -- Katherine Boo.  In January, Ann is going to see this play in London... so we must read it!  Boo is a Pulitzer Prize winning writer.

6. Finally, Consider the Lobster -- David Foster Wallace.  Hands down one of the best books there is!  Wallace will make you laugh, cry, think, and feel confused (especially when his sentences last for a whole page).

Let us know if you end up reading any of these, or have already--we would love to hear your comments.  Hopefully the ASC crew is able to finish them all before Autumn is over :)

And if you're looking to read all of these at once, here they are in the Mediterranean Suki Bag :) haha.  Happy reading!
