Hi everyone!  I am loving the Suki Bag this month and this season, and thought I would share a bit about how I designed the bag, what inspired it, and how it was made.

My vision for the Suki bag (as you can see below in my preliminary sketches!) was for it to serve as a bag for the woman of many faces -- the working woman, the busy mother, the trendy college student.  It is suede, durable, and comes in a variety of colors (smokey gray, Mediterranean blue, moss green, navy blue, and chocolate brown) that I think perfectly suit Fall and Winter.

I named it the "Suki Bag" after my husband.  To pose a sweet metaphor: like my husband for me: it is durable, will be in your life forever, and gets better with age :)  A true classic!

The Suki Bag is made of suede, two leather straps, and has a snap enclosure.  Like the rest of my collection, it is handmade in Morocco by artists in Marrakech.  The suede is dyed by hand, using the same ancient technique that has been around since the 11th century.  National Geographic covered this incredible process in a recent project, which you can read about more here.

I use the Suki bag for every day activities -- to carry my work, yoga, out for tea at the Buttery in the South End, book club, as a carry-on for trips to Nantucket, and out to dinner with friends.  I love that it works with practically any occasion, because that truly was my vision for this handbag.  The Suki Bag is one of my all-time favorites, so go ahead and check it out!  And don't forget to visit my blog for updates, and to learn more about the story and artisan process behind my collection.
